Many of the strams on Guadalupe are temporary. Local water regulation patterns have been disrupted by extensive deforestation, which affected also the terrestrial fauna on the island. This factor, together with existence of invasive predatory species (rats, cats) decimated local populations of endemic, ground -dwelling bird species.
