Geographic range: Nearctic: From Veracruz, through Central America to W Colombia and N Ecuador.

Physical characteristics: Medium sized. Long tail, which is haired for half of its length. Fur long and wooly. Upper body color from gray to orange, usually 3 orange patches on neck and shoulders, rump and midback. Eyes large. Tops of feet white.

Food habits: Mostly feeds on insects. Also fruit and nectar.

Reproduction: Litter 1 -6, breeding throughout the year. Nest made of vegetable matter in hollow trees.

Behavior: Strictly nocturnal (exception islands).

Habitat: Evergreen and deciduous forest, second growth.
