STREAK -BACKED ORIOLE

Geographic range: Neotropical: Ranges from W Mexico to Costa Rica, casual in SW USA. In Mexico on Pacific slope from cen. Sonora south to Chiapas.

Physical characteristics: The only adult oriole with streaked back. Also more white is present in the wing than in other species. Male is yellowish - orange. Female duller, but her back also streaked. Immature resembles females, but are lacking the black throat.

Food habits: Eats insects and small fruit.

Reproduction: Builts pensile woven nest. Nest suspended from end of a branch in mid to upper level canopy.

Behavior: Seen singly or in small groups, often in association with other oriole species.

Habitat:
Dry country, forest edges, arid scrub, tropical deciduous forest.
