Geographic range: Nearctical, Neotropical: Endemic to Mexico. In interior and on both slopes from Durango and Nuevo Leon to Michoacan and C Veracruz and interior Oaxaca.

Physical characteristics: Yellow- orange overall, face black with narrow -orange spectacles. Sides, rump, and upper tail coverts are black. Two broad white wing bars are a distinctive feature.

Food habits: Feeds mostly on insects and small fruit.

Reproduction: Nest is placed in mid- to upper levels in bush or tree.

Behavior: Usually seen singly or in small groups, in bigger numbers during migration.

Habitat:
Arid to semi humid forested areas in pine -oak forest, riparian vegetation, gardens and orchards.
