Geographic
range: Nearctic, Neotropical: Found from N Mexico, through
Central America to N Argentina.
Physical characteristics: Medium
sized. Slim, long legs and tail. Pattern of thick -edged rosettes.
Large eyes. Broad feet.
Food habits: Carnivorous. Mainly
on climbing prey, mice, opossums, squirrels, also monkeys, sloths,
porcupines, and birds.
Reproduction: Litter 1- 2 (unusual).
Behavior: Mainly nocturnal, sleeps
through the day. Hunts mostly in trees, travels on the ground. Habits
poorly known in detail.
Habitat: Undisturbed forests. |
