VIVA NATURA
Birth of the American Crocodile (Crocodylus acutus)
Boca Negra, Jalisco, Mexico - Summer 2008

During a routine crocodile habitat survey in Western Mexico, we heard voices of crocs deep inside a nest. A call that should have attracted the mother, and urged her to provide vital assistance to her young during the hatching, failed to produce her this time and we proceeded to uncover the nest with our hands. This was only the second time in the team's ten-year experience that we had the opportunity to witness this remarkable event. Depicted are some of the 30 crocodiles that were born in my hands.
